B Walk – Hope to Win
24/06/2021 @ 10:15 am
This walk starts from the car park in the centre of Hope at 10.15. There is scattered roadside parking at various points through Hope but high demand. Please leave alone the part of the main road near the shops which is needed for short-stay visitors to the shops. The pay and display car park is £6 for the day. The machine unfortunately accepts only coins, not notes or cards. If intending to use the car park please note it is not large and some spaces are reserved, e.g. two for electric cars needing charging.
The walk is about 10.5 miles. We changed the route slightly yesterday after our recce to reduce/almost eliminate the amount of tarmac towards the end, which is not kind to tired feet. From Hope we walk along the valley as far as Shatton, then cross to Thornhill and climb Win Hill by what we think is the gentlest, but therefore possibly the longest, route. After the summit we proceed north along the ridge to Hope Cross, turn in the direction of Jaggers Clough and then descend gently to Edale End. The return to Hope is via Normans Farm.
