C Walk – 3 Edges & River Derwent
24/06/2021 @ 10:30 am
The walk meets and starts at 10.30am from the Curbar Gap car park.
I have made a few minor changes to the walk after visiting the area yesterday. It’s still the same walk but I am now starting at the National Trust car park ( currently free as the pay and display meter has been removed) at Curbar gap instead of Calver. The walk is slightly more than shown in the programme at 7.8 miles. Only one short climb.
There is no postcode for the car park as far as I know however the map reference on Outdoor Leisure Map (OLM 24) is 262747. From Hazel Grove follow the A6 Buxton road through high lane and Disley towards Whaley Bridge. At the roundabout just before Whaley take the bypass, still the A6, go straight on at the next roundabout but at the next take the first exit towards Chesterfield (A623). Continue on this road to the crossroads and traffic signals after passing through Stoney Middleton. Go through the lights at Calver for about half a mile and take the first road on the left and cross the river where there is a sign for Curbar, take the next left and then go up by the side of the church up a steep hill until you reach the car park. Journey time about 40 minutes from Hazel Grave. This route is not set in concrete so please if you know how to get there go your own way.
