A 7.5 mile moderate walk from Chapel-en-le-Frith, passing Wash and the entrance to the Cowburn Railway tunnel, to Sparrowpit. Returning via Bagshaw Hall and with at least 800 feet of ascent.

Meet at 9.45am for at 10am start.

Directions:

Take the A6 towards Buxton through Newtown and onto the Whaley Bridge bypass dual carriageway.  At the end of the dual carriageway there is a roundabout.  Turn right here (signed “Glossop and Chinley”) and immediately take the first left opposite Aldi, onto Bowden Lane. If you get to the brake lining works you have gone too far. Find somewhere to park along the right side of Bowden Lane, and we will meet here.

  This small industrial estate should be quiet on a Sunday. There are toilets in the petrol station next to Aldi opposite.

On the walk there are approx 15 stiles plus one stream to cross where a walking pole might be useful.
