The walk will start at 1030 from the children’s playground on the village square in Middleton by Youlgreave. The walk is about 7 miles long. It initially follows a stream before climbing steadily on minor road and track to Gratton Moor before descending through Long Dale and Gratton Dale. The return is through fields before climbing back into Middleton. There are a number of stiles near the beginning and end of the walk. In July, Gratton Dale was very muddy but hopefully will have dried up in the recent warm weather.

To reach Middleton-by-Youlgreave, take the A515 from Buxton towards Ashbourne continuing past the Book Store at Brierlow Bar. About 5 miles beyond the book store, at Parsley Hay, turn left and, 200 yards later, turn right following signs to Youlgreave along Long Rake. About 1 mile beyond the track to Arbor Low, turn right, towards Middleton. Continue straight on at the cross roads and at the end of the road turn left and downhill into Middleton.
