SUMMARY:A Walk - Eight Dales
DESCRIPTION:Parking: layby under trees on left coming from Harpur Hill. The layby is on Heath View about a fifth of a mile from Brierlow Bar- bookshop there postcode SK17 9PY.  Map photo attached \n\n\n\nStart:10am \n\n\n\nMileage: approx 12 miles\, 2000ft ascent/descent  \n\n\n\nRoute: Brierlow Dale\, Back Dale\, Deep Dale\, Wye Dale\, Woo Dale\, Cunning Dale\, Kings Sterndale\, Horseshoe Dale \n\n\n\nIt’s an interesting link up of various little known dales with classic\, at times dramatic\, limestone scenery. Some stiles\, some gates. \n\n\n\nAlthough the majority of this walk is straightforward\,  there are some steep gradients and challenging terrain eg Deep Dale is rough with slippery stones and small boulders. We escape out of it ASAP but the escape route is extremely steep! \n\n\n\nPlease let me know by text or email if you intend to come. \n\n\n\n12 miles\, moderate

SUMMARY:B Walk - 5Monyash (Change from programme)
DESCRIPTION:This week’s walk starts in Monyash at 10.0amWe will meet at the small car park on Chapel Street in the centre of Monyash.  If you are entering the village from the A515 (Buxton to Ashbourne Rd) then turn left as you enter Monyash in front of the village green. The walk is approximately 10 miles with easy to moderate walking.  The walk takes us from Monyash to and round Weeldon Hill before heading south and east to Pilsbury Castle.  The return journey finishes with a bit of road walking.  Unfortunately the pathway back to the village is too overgrown to navigate. It’s a very pleasant walk with some good views up the valley to Chrome Hill and overlooking Pilsbury Castle.

SUMMARY:C Walk - Youlgreave (Change from programme)
DESCRIPTION:Youlgreave: It’s 7 miles of mixed terrain with great views. I could go on\, basically there is everything. The walk starts from a car park in Youlgreave. Using Google Google Maps\, I used the following location: Coldwell End Public Toilets\, which is also the car park. The parking fee is an honesty payment (no machine); they suggest £3.   \n\n\n\nMeeting at 10 a.m. for a 10:15 a.m. start. The nearest post code I found is DE45 1UY.  \n\n\n\nRegarding the walk\, there were cattle in various places. No concerns\, a clap of the hands cleared a path. Dogs are welcome\, but the owners must be well behaved and appropriately trained. \n\n\n\nIf the weather continues to be warm/hot\, please bring plenty of fluids. There will be random breaks for drinks\, let’s stay hydrated.  \n  \n\n\n\n7 miles\, moderate

SUMMARY:B Walk - Abney Moor (Change from programme)
DESCRIPTION:In view of the continuing hot weather I have been revising my original plan in order to shorten the distance and reduce the amount of climbing. My intention is to start at GR SK210777 a short distance east of Bretton Hamlet (postcode S32 5QD) at the western end of Sir William Hill Road (which is a rough stony track) at 10.00am. A suggested route to the start\, coming from the west\, is to take the A623 to Houseley\, turn left to Foolow\, left then right in Foolow taking Bradshaw Lane up on to Hucklow Edge\, continuing past the Barrel Inn until the road bears sharp right. There are a number of parking spaces on the left immediately after the sharp right turn and there is some space in the entrance to Sir William Hill Road but please don’t restrict access to the track which is used by farm vehicles and others. \n\n\n\nThe route involves going down to Stoke Ford\, up to Oak Farm and thence on to Abney Moor\, on to Abney Village and back by Abney Clough and Bretton Clough. The distance is about 7 miles which is below the standard B distance but plenty in this heat.  There is some luxuriant growth of bracken and nettles and a lot of the route is without shade. \nIt is important that you check your emails on Wednesday evening in case there are any updates or changes. \n\n\n\n7 miles\, moderate

SUMMARY:C Walk - Magpie Mine
DESCRIPTION:Thursday C Walk 16th July – Meet at 10am for a 10.15 start. \n\n\n\n The meeting point is White Lodge Car Park on the A6 before Bakewell.  The post code is DE45 1NL (but it covers a large area!). Good to share cars\, the parking cost £6.60 for the day. \n\n\n\nDirections to the car park:From Buxton take the A6 towards Bakewell.  The car park is 7.7 miles from the Morrisons roundabout in Buxton. As you get nearer the road briefly becomes dual carriageway. The road descends after the dual section and the scenery starts to open up on the left.  There is a picnic sign and then a bus stop pull in on the left.  A few hundred yards past the bust stop there is a turning right into the car park (it is not very well signed). If the first part of the car park is full\, go past the ticket machine and there are more spaces and toilets. \n\n\n\nThe walk is 6 miles\, moderate.  \n\n\n\nAlthough this is at the short end of our walks there will be 1\,000ft of asc/desc to make up for it!  We start by going through the steep sided Deepdale and after a short section of road walking cross fields to the ruins of the Magpie Mine.  This is one of the best preserved lead mines in the country.  We will have lunch here with time to explore for those that haven’t been there before. We then visit Sheldon before descending via Nettler Dale before returning to the car park along (and above!) the River Wye. \n\n\n\nThe walk is generally easy except for a couple of short sections of the descent and has a sting in the tail when we have to ascend during our final section along the Wye. \n\n\n\nIt’s a really nice walk and will be even better with good weather.  No dogs please.  There are a couple of sections where there were a lot of cattle. \n\n\n\n> Looking forward to seeing you there. \n  \n\n\n\n6.5 miles\, moderate

SUMMARY:B Walk - Wincle Brewery
DESCRIPTION:The walk starts at Danebridge\, opposite the Wincle Brewery\, at 10\, and goes north\, taking in Gradbach\, Wildboarclough and Oakenclough. It is about 10.5 miles. The forecast is for reasonable temperatures\, but if it turns hot there can be a shortened version.  \n\n\n\nDanebridge is reached by following the A523 through Macclesfield and turning left at traffic lights on to the road to Sutton and Langley. Follow this till it meets the A54\, then take the A54 keeping the same direction. Shortly afterwards at a crossroads\, turn right downhill. This road will take you to Danebridge. We meet right at the bottom\, on the bridge over the Dane. The postcode SK11 0QE covers a length of road starting well above the bridge\, but it should be possible to park quite a lot further down.   \n\n\n\n10.5 miles\, moderate
