DESCRIPTION:I am leading next week from Prestbury (please note change from programme) so\, another chance to enjoy the delights of the Cheshire countryside! We meet at 10.00 in Shirley’s Drive carpark\, SK10 4XQ\, to depart at 10.15. If approaching Prestbury from the A523 Macclesfield road\, go to the mini roundabout in the centre of the village\, turn left (first exit) then left again into Shirley’s Drive. Then turn second left\, immediately after Village Mews to find the rather hidden carpark\, which currently is free of charge!! \n\n\n\nIf you are coming from the Marple direction\, please note that the main road through Poynton is closed due to road works\, so it is best to take the A555 from near the Brookside Garden Centre\, and then join the A523 heading towards Macclesfield. \n\n\n\nThe walk is approximately seven and a half miles\, mainly on field paths and woodland\, with about half a mile of road walking. It is mainly flat\, although there are some undulations with gentle gradients. It goes through part of the Hare Hill grounds\, but NT cards are not needed. There are a couple of muddy patches\, and long wet grass in one field\, so I would recommend boots. There are  a dozen or so stiles\, mostly well-maintained. \n

DESCRIPTION:We walk from Alstonefield into Mill Dale then along the River Dove through Wolfescote Dale turning at Frank i’ the Rocks Bridge into Narrow Dale and back to Alstonefield \n\n\n\nThe snowdrops and daffodils are long gone but there are newborn lambs and fields yellow-washed with dandelions.  AND there is ice cream at Mill Dale (bring cash).  We’ll have a proper coffee break near the first Biggin Dale turning and lunch below the caves. The George has opened again\, hurray!! So a drink at the George is once more compulsory. And there is sensibly priced food. \n\n\n\n Meet at the toilets at 10am to walk at 10.15 am \n\n\n\nRoute to Alstonefield \n\n\n\n·         Take the A6 to Buxton. At the roundabout at the bottom of the hill turn left with the A6 as far as Morrison’s roundabout. \n\n\n\n·         At this roundabout turn  right up the hill and go as far as the main traffic lights where you turn left onto A151\, the main Asbourne Road \n\n\n\n ·         Follow the A515 for a considerable distance passing signs to Hartington and Biggin. Eventually on the right you will see a sign for Alstonefield (ignore it –it’s a single lane road) and take the next. \n\n\n\n·         Over the bridge take the right hand road up to Alstonefield\, pass the dinosaur and turn right to the toilets. \n\n\n\nPlease note the new charges for parking at the toilets: £6.60 all day or pay by card and it does keep the toilets maintained.. There are no meters at the Village Hall and Sports Field carparks though the Village Hall Trust asks for donations which is fair enough. To reach the Village Hall car park \, go past the toilets and turn sharp left at the next turning. The Hall car park is on the right at the top of the hill.  The Sports Field carpark is a little further along towards Wetton. \n  \n\n\n\n7 miles\, Moderate

Follow this up to the Leather Smithy pub where road turns right.  Continue to end of reservoir bearing right with the road then turning left up to Trentabank. Free parking on rhs of road just before entrance to the car park and visitors centre. Otherwise use the car park (pay & display). Meet at 10.00 for 10.15 am start.  \n\n\n\nWalk goes up through Macc Forest and onwards to Shutlingsloe (over or round whichever you prefer) – then down the Wildboarclough valley and backthrough Oakencloughand via Hanging Gate and fields. DESCRIPTION:Meet at 9:45 for a 10:am Start.  8miles. \n\n\n\nThe walk will start just past the Packhorse Inn on Butts Road in Little Longstone. \n\n\n\nPost Code: DE45 1NN \n\n\n\nSat Nav: SK 190717 \n\n\n\n///appoints.weeps.dolls \n\n\n\nFree parking roadside. \n\n\n\nDirections: Too many to choose from: but for a rough guide\,  Marple\, Hayfield\, A624  to join up with the A6. Follow this to the roundabout at Higher Halsteads and take the first exit A623 to Sparrowpit\, keep on this until  you reach the sign on your right  B6465 Wardlow\, follow this all the way to the Monsal Head Pub and turn left into Butts Lane to the start of walk. \n\n\n\nWe will start by crossing the fields to Ashford in the Water\, where we’ll have coffee break/toilets available\, then continue with a steep moderate climb on our way to  (but not into) Bakewell. \n\n\n\nWe will cross the river and take the long northerly path up to the Monsal trail and on to Great Longstone and finally back to the start at Little Longstone. \n\n\n\nThis is a repeat of the of the walk I did last year\, which received excellent reviews. \n\n\n\nGood views and landscapes\, good terrain\, only a few stiles- the broken one of last year has been replaced with a brand new one. \n\n\n\nAll we need now is some fine weather. \n\n\n\nPs: I rang the Packhorse Pub to see if they could accommodate a group of around 10 to 30 thirsty rambler’s for ‘afters’  –  they declined saying that it is peak period and requires bookings. \n\n\n\n So no. \n  \n\n\n\n8 miles\, moderate
