DESCRIPTION:I’ve changed my walk due to boggy conditions on my intended walk. \n\n\n\nEnclosed details of my revised walk next Thursday 22nd October which is a circular walk round Broadbottom.  \n\n\n\nThe walk starts at Car Park opposite Church of the Immaculate Conception \, Long lane \, Charlesworth. \n\n\n\nSuggested Route from Marple(About 15 Mins/5 Miles) : \n\n\n\nA626 Glossop Road \n\n\n\nTurn Left onto Long Lane in Charlesworth (at the junction with the George and Dragon Pub). \n\n\n\nGo down Long Lane 0.7 miles and car park is on the right opposite the church. \n\n\n\nIf you come to the traffic lights over the bridge you’ve gone to far ! \n\n\n\nThe walk is about 5 miles over mixed terrain including along the Tameside path by the River Ethrow \, through woodland with Autumn foliage and taking in views over Longendale and finishing on easy farm tracks. The walk is mostly easy with moderate climbs through the woods ; there are 2 stiles. \n

SUMMARY:B Walk - Tintwistle
DESCRIPTION:Take the Hyde Road through Mottram in Longdendale A628 though the new Bypass construction area\, turning left at the lights at the bottom. The road turns into the Woodhead Road in the direction of the Woodhead Pass. Shortly after going through Tintwistle you will see the large Christ Church on right hand side followed by a sign showing Longdendale Environmental Centre on the right. Go down right there and go along the reservoir dam wall to the parking area (Valehouse dam car park) on the far side between Bottoms Reservoir and Valehouse Reservoir.  \n\n\n\nThe walk will take us along Bottoms reservoir through upper Tintwistle\, to the Seven falls\, Lad’s leap\, near to Crowden and then along the reservoirs back to the cars. \n\n\n\nApproximate mileage 9 miles \n\n\n\nSpoiler alert : part of the time we shall be walking through some seriously desolate moor land because its the area where there were large moorland fires in the summer as I am sure you remember. However the views on the valley should be good….if there is not too much low level cloud or mist. \n\n\n\nThe forecast for the day looks overcast after overnight rain but not too bad….watch this space if there are any more autumn storm alerts. \n\n\n\nStart time 10am. \n  \n\n\n\n9 miles\, moderate

DESCRIPTION:My walk will start at 10.30am from the Sett Valley Trail car park\, Station Road\, Hayfield.SK22 2ES.A shortish but moderate walk on country lanes\, and moorland footpaths\,  from the car park to Little Hayfield\, over Middle Moor and returning on the Snake Path\, passing Twenty Trees.Some uphill climbs and some downhill stoney paths.Please let me know if you are travelling by bus and I will wait for it to arrive.From Arkwright Road Marple\, continue onto Strines Road to New Mills.At the roundabout take the second exit to the traffic lights.Turn left onto Church Road. Follow this road for 2.8miles.Just before reaching the Chapel bypass turn left into Station Road.The carpark here is chargeable\, however there is roadside parking around the area.

DESCRIPTION:This walk is approximately 7 miles.  \n\n\n\nGrade: Moderate  \n\n\n\nTerrain: Tracks\, fields\, woodland and two stiles.  \n\n\n\nWe will meet in the car park at Werneth Low Visitors Centre (SK14 5LR) at 9.45am for a 10.00 start. The route goes around Werneth Low\, over to Godley for lunch and then along the Apethorn Godley trail to Gower Hey Woods before heading back to the Visitors Centre. \n\n\n\nLunch will be at the old railway turntable which is now a feature on the above trail. \n\n\n\nThere is ample parking at the Visitor Centre but in the very unlikely event that you cannot find a space\, you could park on the road next to the Centre. Alternatively\, there is additional parking at the Quarry car park (Werneth Low Road\, SK14 3AA) and join us when we pass this location at approximately 10.15am \n  \n\n\n\n7 miles\, moderate

DESCRIPTION:The details of the Thursday’s Walk are as follows:Title of the Walk: Winhill and Hope CrossStart Time – 10.00am.Start/Meeting Point – Heatherdene  Car Park\, Ladybower.  GridReference: SK 202857.Could we please MEET in front of the Toilets.Car Parking charge £7.00 for 10 hrs\,  Payment can be made by eitherCash or Card.  BUT there may be opportunities to park on either theA57 on the bridge over the reservoir or the A6013 opposite theHeatherdene car park road\, if you arrive earlier enough for there tobe spaces availableThere are Toilets at the Car Park.The Weather Forecast is promising\, at the moment\, to be dry\, but alittle windy on the top.A temperature of between 8 and 6 degrees is forecast.Ascent/Gradient: 485 metres (1\,590 ft.)It is a Moderate to Easy walk with only one extended inclined section\,and that is upto Winhill.   After Winhill\, the walk is downhill. Thepaths and tracks are clear\, but a little muddy in some areas.   Themajority of the paths pass through forest.  There are also some grassysections after Winhill.Overall\, it is a pleasant walk of just over 8 miles with the potentialfor some fabulous views and wonderful Autumn colours.   It begins inHeatherdene Car park\, from where we cross over the Ladybower dam andclimb up through forest up to Winhill.  After Winhill\, we head overgrassland towards Hope Cross\,  where we enter a forest and walkgradually down to the bridle path alongside the reservoir back to thecar park via the  Ladybower dam.

DESCRIPTION:My walk this week is Higher Disley\, Whaley Bridge and Furness Vale \n\n\n\nDistance 7 miles \n\n\n\nStarting Point: Mudhurst Lane off Buxton Old Road. Park at the 1st lay-by \n\n\n\non the right hand side. \n\n\n\nDirections from traffic lights in Disley take Old Buxton Road with The Rams Head pub on he right. Uphill for approx 1 mile to the second road on the \n\n\n\nright\, which is Mudhurst Lane. Park on the 1st lay-by on your right. \n\n\n\nMeet 10.15 for 10.30am start. \n\n\n\nThe majority of this walk has 360 degree views\, all day from high ground\,  \n\n\n\nwhich include. \n\n\n\nLyme Park\, Black Rock\, Marple\, New mills\, Furness Vale\, Whaley Bridge\, Kinder\, Kettleshulme\, Shining Torr\, Charles Head\, Sponds Hill and Bowstones. \n\n\n\nAlong with some interesting snippets of land use history\, along the way\, eg Restoration of Todd a Brook Reservoir\, WhaleyBridge. \n\n\n\nThe grade is moderate with a few stiles.  \n  \n\n\n\n7 miles\, moderate
