Thursday is the first day of Tissington Well Dressing and the walk allows us to visit all 6 of the wells

We start from Thorpe with a little road walking before joining the Tissington Trail.  We continue along the trail around Tissington Village and eventually take field paths to join the road into Tissington.  After a short distance we will come to the first of the wells.  It will probably be very busy so we’ll arrange a meeting point in case anyone gets separated from the group.

The walk is 7 miles (+ a little extra in Tissington to look at the Well Dressings).  No challenging ascents or descents.

We will meet at the lower car park of the Peveril of the Peak in Thorpe (the HF House) at 10-15am and will start walking at 10.30 prompt. (DE6 2AW)

I’ve attached detailed instructions on how to get there from Buxton.  If travelling from Marple it’s best to go to Buxton via Long Hill.  Where the road bends to the left on coming down into Buxton take the right hand turn at the mini roundabout onto the A515 towards Ashbourne.  The rest of the route is shown on the document below. It takes around 70 minutes (34 miles) from Marple.
