B Walk – Chinley (Change from programme)

February 19 @ 10:00 am

Instead of the walk on the programme (which was planned long ago when I didn’t know we’d have weeks and weeks of non-stop rain), I shall be repeating one we did a year or two back. This starts from Wash and goes to Shireoaks, Malcoff, Brown Knoll and South Head. It is nearly all on good tracks and stone paths; there is just one bit where we have to diverge from the path to avoid soggy ground. Going over South Head is optional. There are good views and so far weather and visibility are looking ok. About 9 miles M, I reckon.

I hope to be able to use the car park of Chinley Independent Chapel, but haven’t heard back from them yet. Please therefore look at your emails again tomorrow evening.  There is another possibility for parking, but the car park is better. The postcode is SK23 0QN. If coming along the bypass, you need to turn right at the roundabout at the Chapel end, and right again at the next roundabout. The road goes under the bypass and then under two railway viaducts. You need to turn right immediately after the second. The chapel and its car park are on the right very soon after.  10 o’clock start. Hope to see you there.
