Start time: Arrive at 9.45am for 10.00am start from Bradgate Road Dunham.

Directions from Marple: Follow A626/A627 towards Hazel Grove then turn left onto A6/ London Road and right onto A523 towards Airport Link Road/A555. Turn right onto A555 and continue to M’cr Airport, exiting onto the M56 at Junction 5, following signs for Chester,Warrington, B’ham, M6 etc. Stay on the M56 for approximately 4 miles before exiting left onto the A556 slip road at Junction 7, and encountering two large roundabouts. Take the 3rd exit onto A556 at the first roundabout and then the 2nd exit onto A56/Dunham Road at the second roundabout, following signs for Altrincham and Dunham Massey. About 1.5 miles along the Dunham Road you will see a large blue sign for Dunham Forest Golf Club and turn immediately left on Bradgate Road. Park on Bradgate Road as near as you can to the junction with Dunham Road.

Walk: The walk, of approximately 5 miles, will take us through Dunham Golf course into Dunham Park where we will stop for toilets then coffee/lunch and return along the Bridgewater Canal at Oldfield Brow and back to the cars. There is one large sturdy stile into Dunham Park. The walk is largely flat with a slight uphill gradient at the end. The tracks are largely good apart from a relatively short stretch of the canal toe path which was at the time of recce pretty muddy and wet, walking poles are advised.
