This walk is a just over 7 miles with no stiles and a couple of gentle climbs. We will meet outside The Boathouse which is located at Sale Water Park (Cow Lane, Sale M33 2LX) at 10.00am for a 10.15am start. Toilets are available at the start of the walk.

The walk will include Sale Water Park, Sale Golf Club, Wythenshawe Sports Ground, River Mersey, Chorlton Ees, TransPennine Trail, Bridgewater Canal and Priory Gardens.

After the walk, drinks are available from The Boathouse which is next to where we are meeting.

Directions to the Main Car Park next to The Boathouse

The quickest way is to use the M60 which is about 14 miles and should take about 25 minutes to drive.

Get on the M60 in Stockport, and head towards the Trafford Centre.

At junction 6, take the A6144 exit to Sale

Take the 3^rd exit at the roundabout at the end of the slip road

At the next roundabout, take the 1^st exit into Rifle Road

At the next roundabout, take the 1^st exit into Cow Lane

Follow this Lane passed the Visitors Centre and Tree Tops Café and after about 0.5 mile, the main car park is on your right.

Alternatively, for those who prefer NOT to drive on the motorway

This route avoids motorways but will certainly take longer so if using his route, please allow plenty of time to reach your destination.

Take the A555 (Manchester Airport Bypass) and exit onto the A34 Kingsway towards Manchester city centre.

Drive for several miles until you pass under a footbridge, and take the left hand lane to Didsbury.  After about one mile you will reach traffic lights signed A5145 Stretford/Chorlton.  Turn left.

Drive about two miles until you reach Chorlton centre, a set of traffic lights with a white building on the left.  Turn left. onto the A6010.

Pass Stretford metro station on the right, and turn left at the next set of lights onto Chester Rd.  

Pass under the M60, and at the next traffic lights turn left onto Dane Rd.

At the end of Dane Rd turn left.  Go straight through two roundabouts onto Rifle Rd.

At the next roundabout take the first exit onto Cow Lane.  

Follow this lane past the visitors centre and the Treetops cafe.  After about 0.5 mile the main car park is on your right.
