A Walk – Bleaklow
August 6 @ 10:00 am
The walk starts from Kings Tree (shown on Google Maps), Derwent Valley at 10am.
From the A57 snake pass, just before Ladybower viaduct turn left, signposted Derwent Valley. At the Fairholmes roundabout continue straight on (restricted road) for about 5 miles to the end of the road and park there. Note there is no mobile reception at Kings Tree so I will not be contactable.

The route…
Kings Tree, Linch Clough, Black Dyke, Bleaklow Stones, Grinah Stones, Barrow Stones, Round Hill, Fair Banks, Coldwell Clough, Derwent Valley, Kings Tree.
About 12miles, 550m ascent
This is a hard walk crossing rough, pathless, moorland.
There will be heather and tall ferns to navigate, I strongly recommend long trousers.
On the plus side, no stiles!
The first route I tried took me 10hours.
This route took me 7hrs last week, but I was route finding so hoping will be quicker next Thurs.
If time is against us, we can miss out Bleaklow Stones and go straight to Grinah Stones.
This is a part of the peak district few people visit, hoping for a dry clear day.
