A Walk – Frodsham (Change from programme)
April 18 @ 10:00 am
And now for something completely different…..I have been persuaded to postpone my planned route to let soggy fields and muddy terrain dry out a bit. If you are willing, we are off to better draining sandstone and an easier walk. I haven’t been on these paths for many years but hopefully there will be no unforeseen problems.
Parking: Church Road Frodsham. The postcode for church is WA6 7DU but park on lefthand side of road soon after turning in before reaching church. Transport shares where possible might be a good idea in case limited.
Set off: 10am
Distance/Ascent: About 12miles and only 1,350ft but if very keen and ahead could add 3 miles and 430ft on way back!
Route: from parking we are picking up the Delamere way to Delamere Forest. There is some road walking. A turn round the forest and returning using the Sandstone Trail. (The extension would be going to Helsby Hill fort on a circuit but travelling back earlier does make for an easier return car journey on M56)
My feelings are that the A555 route to the M56 is a better route than joining the M60 at Stockport. Have the leader’s phone number with you in case of any hold-ups on route. I’m speaking from experience of travelling this route, though maybe, a little outdated.
Please let the A Group Walks Organiser know if you are going on ths walk.
