We will start from Sparrowpit and be about 14 miles with around 1750 feet of climbing, mostly quite gentle. The route is mainly on good tracks and minor roads with a few muddy fields because; at this time of year; you’ve got to have mud.

The route is Sparrowpit, Perryfoot, Pennine Bridleway, Roych Farm, Bagshaw, skirting Dove Holes Quarry, towards Peak Forest then back to Sparrowpit.

Meeting point directions: Head for Buxton on the A6 and turn off on the A623 (Chesterfield turning). At the very sharp corner at Sparrowpit turn left and immediately left again (signposted for Blackbrook). The road goes uphill for about a quarter of a mile, at the top of the hill there is a layby on the right, this is our starting point. Grid ref. 087808.
