10am start at Bunsal Cob CP next to Errwood Reservoir, we ramble towards and ascend upto Shining Tor. Head to Windgather Rocks taking in the views, if it’s a clear day. Meander towards Taxal where we pick up the Midshires Way before we traverse to the River Goyt and follow the valley back to our cars.

No more than 10 miles and 1600ft ascent. However, if like me you’ve not managed to get out over the festive season and wish to add an extra mile/ascent and start at 9:30am, please park at Long Hill viewing point (the lay-by after the Taxal one).
