Start point : Monsal Head Hotel DE45 1NL. 

Parking (free) on roadside and Pay and Display in large car park behind the hotel.

This is a moderate walk of 7.5 miles.

I have previously led this walk from Ashford in the Water, but have decided to start from Monsal Head as most people are familiar with this as a start point. Otherwise the walk is exactly the same.

The path down from Monsal Head was very dry when I did the recce. (This is the path which leads to the Weir.  Those of you who have done Lesley P’s Monsal  Head walk will be familiar with this path). Just a warning that you may need sticks for this part as there are some steep downward areas which had become a little trickier with all the dry weather.

Whilst on this occasion the village of Ashford in the Water will not be our start/ finish point, when passing through, we will take advantage of the fact that there is a lovely cafe there which sells excellent cakes and ice cream. We will  therefore spend approximately 20 minutes in the village, to enable anyone who wants to, to make some purchases (and support the local economy!)
