C Walk – Bramall Hall

This Sunday’s walk is to Bramall Hall a magnificent Tudor Hall with extensive grounds. The walk is 7 miles, moderate, with three stiles and several gates, with mixed terrain.
Meeting at 10am for a 10.15am start, at the far end of Ladythorn Road, just before Bramhall Golf Club entrance. We will follow tracks and trails leading towards Poynton and then across to Happy Valley following the Lady Brook river to Bramhall Green and across to Bramhall Park, where there are plenty of benches for lunchtime. There is also a cafe if you want a fresh coffee or snacks and toilets. Afterwards we will then proceed through Carr Wood and follow the Fred Perry Way back to the cars.
How to get there, from Marple in takes approximately 20 minutes. Head towards Hazel Grove coming out at the Bulls Head Pub on Torkington Road,
Turn Right onto London Road, then 2nd left down Chester Road (corner of American Golf shop) over the railway bridge, continue through pedestrian lights, next set of traffic lights turn right onto Jacksons Lane, at a mini roundabout,1st exit stay on Jacksons Lane. Next roundabout 2nd exit , straight over, ,continues as Bridge Lane, down to the Big Roundabout 1st Exit onto Bramhall Lane South, follow down Bramhall Lane South for about 0.3 of a mile and turn left down Ladythorn Road, (Ladybrook Manor Care Home is on the corner,) proceed all the way down this road to the bottom of the road, where you will see the entrance to Bramhall Golf Club. Do not enter the Golf Club, park along Ladythorn Road before the Golf Club.
