My walk is Hazel Grove-Bramhall-Poynton Circular:

7 miles and only 227ft of ascent. (2 stiles). Start time 10am for 10.15.

Starting point/Meet up:

Car park in Torkington Park, Hazel Grove – Turn off the A6 in Hazel Grove opposite the Rising Sun Pub.  (There is a bathroom store on your left as you turn). Watch out for the narrows entrance with high kerbs.

There is another car park in Torkington Park – it’s on the hill in the park, behind Torkington Lodge and is reached from Torkington Road – on your  left if travelling from Marple but on your right if coming onto Torkington Road from the A6. PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS NOT the car park we will meet at, but feel free to park there and walk down the hill to meet us.

We will cross A6 at Benvenuti, walk past Norbury Church and the allotments, past Hazel Grove Station, through the playing fields on Green Lane, then past Stepping Hill Hospital (Maternity entrance).  We go through Mirlees fields, onto the Fred Perry Way, emerging near the entrance to Happy Valley.

Through Happy Valley, across road to take footpath which goes under A555 and emerges later opposite Broolside Garden Centre. From there we head for the old Buxton Road and back to Torkington Park.  

Whilst 70% of the walk is on footpaths and pavements, we do cross 2 fields in Happy Valley.   There will definitely be some mud there!

Dogs with well-behaved owners welcome – At the end of the fields at Happy Valley there are sometimes, but not always, some cows.
