C Walk – South Head / Chinley Churn
February 22 @ 10:00 am
Meeting at 10 am to start at 10.15 am
This country walk will take us through a range of surface paths including fields, quiet country roads and a portion of the Pennine Bridleway. and weather permitting some great 360 degree scenic views. After lunch those feeling energetic enough will walk up to the summit of South Head before rejoining those walking around it back on the Pennine Bridleway. We should have some excellent countryside views (weather permitting) from Chinley Churn and South Head, looking towards Mount Famine, Eccles Pike, Kinder and the Cheshire plain. There are a number of stiles, stoney paths and mud. This moderate walk is about 7.5 miles (OS maps).
The walk will start from Buxton Road, Chinley just past Chinley Primary School. There are various possible parking spots on Buxton Road, between the junction with the A624 Hayfield Road and Alder Brook (small road off Buxton Road). However, car sharing is strongly encouraged – the nearest post code is SK23 6DN.
