C Walk – Errwood Reservoir (Time change!)
13/06/2021 @ 9:45 am
The walk starts from The Street car park just over the dam between Errwood and Fernilee reservoirs. Meet at The Street at 9.45am for a 10pm start.
It is approx. 6.7-7 miles. We will walk along the reservoir then climb up to Errwood Hall ruins where we will stop for coffee, then Shooter’s Clough, and down by the side of Goytsclough quarry and over the packhorse bridge. Depending on the time we will have lunch there. Then we will walk back towards Errwood round by Wild Moor. We then head towards Bunsal Cob and the road back to the cars.
Directions from the A6, drive up Buxton Rd to the roundabout at Whaley Bridge and take the 2nd exit and drive through the town centre and up to the traffic lights after passing the Cock pub. Turn right onto the B5004 (Long Hill), take care not to take the Macclesfield Rd turning, then drive straight up passing through Fernilee. Then at the sign post for The Goyt Valley (it is a fair drive up!) turn right and take this road down to the dams. Drive over the dam and as you go round other side, the car park is directly in front of you.
Postcode SK17 6GJ. This is the postcode for the sailing club at the corner of the dam that you will pass.
If anyone requires a lift please make arrangements prior to the walk day.
