It is a moderate 6 miles walk from Quarry Bank Mill, through Styal woods, along the river Bollin, skirting the tunnel under the South Manchester Airport runway. The return is a short distance through the woods and then by lanes to Styal village.
There are no stiles, but as usual there are some inclines.

Directions – From the centre of Marple, take Hibbert Lane/ Windlehurst Lane to High Lane.
At the T junction turn right onto the A6
Turn left onto the A555
At the Quarry Bank Bank Mill sign turn left and follow the National Trust signs past Styal village and turn right opposite a sports club.
