D Walk – Hayfield

My walk this week will take us to Hayfield, starting at 10.30 from the Sett Valley Trail carpark. SK22 2ES.
A moderate 4.5 mile walk starting along the S.V. trail, across farmland, onto the lower slopes of Lantern Pike, returning via Little Hayfield.
Some steepish climbs and stoney paths which we can negotiate gradually.
Directions from Marple Bridge,
take Arkwright Road, through Strines to New Mills.
At the roundabout 2nd exit down to the traffic lights.
Left here towards Hayfield, after 2.8 miles opposite a chapel and just before the Chapel by-pass, turn left, and first left again into the Sett Valley Trail car park . There is a charge on here around £5. There’s also some free onroad parking around the area, and parking at the Royal Hotel
SK22 2EP in the village which is closed and up for sale.( if you park here you will need to make your way across to the walk start. )
