Meet at Fairholmes Visitor Centre S33 0AQ at 10.15 am to walk at 10.30 am along the Lost Villages Trail round the higher reservoir. It is an easy walk with no stiles and one flight of steps.

Route to Fairholmes  (your GPS might tell you Jubilee Cottages but it is the same)

The distance is approx. 23 miles but allow yourself a good hour because you will be driving through Glossop and Hollingworth over The Snake Pass. This is why I’m making it a later start than usual.

From Brabyns Hill carpark turn right to go through the lights and up the Glossop road (A626) and follow it all the way through Charlesworth to Dinting T-junction where you turn right onto the A57

Follow the A57 through Glossop all the way to the Lady Bower Valley and as you approach the dam there is a sign on the left to Derwent Valley. Turn left. Follow that road past the Fairholmes 1 mile sign all the way to the visitor centre though you might have to park in one of the layby carparks outside.

 Carparking is £6.60 all day by card or cash (despite Ring Go sign you’d be lucky to get a signal)
