The walk will not be to Pilsbury Castle, for various reasons including overgrown paths and one closed for repair. Instead it will be to Alport Castles. 

It will start at 10.15 at Bridge End car park, S33 0AQ. This is on the left as you drive along the side of Ladybower reservoir towards Fairholmes. All the car parks in this area now charge £4.75 for the day, but with luck we may not have to pay anything, as the machine was out of order and covered up when I was there.

There are two climbs, one at the beginning and one about half way. It is quite a short walk, barely nine miles.

The forecast is favourable at the moment. If it turns lousy I’ll offer a different walk.
