It’s about 10 miles and takes about 30 mins travel time.

My choice of directions to the start are driving through Marple on the Glossop Rd (A626) as far as Charlesworth then turn down Long Lane through Broadbottom on the A6174 all the way through until you come to the traffic light at the A57 (Mottram Rd/Hyde Rd) crossroad. Drive straight across onto Stalybridge Rd up to the top and turn left. This is Roe Cross Rd, A6018.  Take the 5th right turn which is a awkward hairpin turning so take a wide sweep round. This is Hobson Moor Rd. Then follow this bearing left till you meet the Y split with Dewsnap lane left again staying on Hobson Moor Road. The parking bays are in front of you, park just beyond the quarry on your left.

Alternatively you can also go via Woodley, then just passed the Joshua Bradley restaurant, turn right onto the A560 all the way through to the big roundabout just after Tescos, then take the 3rd exit onto Hyde Rd turning left at the traffic lights into Stalybridge Rd and the rest is as above.

We will walk past the quarry and up through Hobson Moor and up to Wild Bank Trig point. From there we will walk over Hollingworthall Moor and over the Pack Saddle, then onto the Pennine Bridleway. Then up and over to Arnfield Low Moor and Arnfield. Making our way to the delightfully named Devils Bridge. Then over and into Swallow Wood. and following the Tameside Trail exit the woods and and through fields and farms back up to the start.

The weather is mixed over the next few days unfortunately, but I hope we will have some clear weather as the views over the Moor and Pack Saddle are amazing.
